Introduction to Feminism

  Everyday Sexism 1) Why did Laura Bates start the Everyday Sexism project? Laura Bates started the Everyday Sexism project as many people said she was making a fuss and since women are equal now, sexism is no longer a problem. As well as Laura realised that they couldn't solve a problem if people refused to even acknowledge that is existed.  2) How does the Everyday Sexism project link to the concept of post-feminism? Representation

1) Why is representation an important concept in Media Studies? Everything we see in the media is in fact a representation. Whenever we see a place, person, object or idea being represented in a media text, it has in some way been mediated by the act of representation.  2) How does the example of Kate Middleton show the way different meanings can be created in the media? 1) What is regulation and why do media industries need to be regulated? Systems of regulation are required to provide rules and regulations to ensure that organisations operate fairly.  2) What is OFCOM responsible for?
